Open Call: FEMinist FEStival 2025

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) invites feminist organizations, artists, cultural workers, musicians, theater practitioners, and progressive political actors to apply for participation in the FEMinist FEStival „One world, one struggle“ – a unique regional platform that merges art and activism to promote gender equality and amplify marginalized voices.

The FEStival will take place in Skopje on 19-21 September.

What is the FEMinist FEStival?

FEStival is a celebration of feminist artistic and cultural initiatives aimed at raising awareness of gender issues, fostering dialogue, and supporting intersectional feminist perspectives in the Western Balkans. Through performances, exhibitions, discussions, and creative interventions, FEStival will serve as a space for freedom, solidarity, resistance, and inspiration.

Who Can Apply?

We welcome applications from:

  •     CSO organizations and collectives
  •     Artists, musicians, performers, and theater practitioners engaging with gender issues
  •     Writers, filmmakers, and visual artists exploring themes of solidarity, freedom, and gender topics
  •     Progressive political groups advocating for gender equality
  •     Intersectional initiatives that amplify the voices of marginalized communities

Criteria for participation:

1. Artistic expression that sends a message of solidarity as a value, but also as an essential aspect in the fight for gender equality and the role of women in antifascist resistance throughout history and today.

Types of artistic expressions:

  • Theater performance (maximum 20 minutes)
  •  Musical performance (band or choir)
  • Video material (maximum 15 minutes)
  •   Performance art
  • Or any other form of artistic expression that meets the participation criteria.

2.  A team of performers consisting of no more than 8 people (aged 18-29).

 

 How to Apply?

Interested participants should submit a concept note (max. 2 pages) including:

  •     Title of the Performance
  •     Description – What is your performance about? What formats (art performance, exhibition, dance, music, theater performance, etc.) will it include?
  •     Team & Participants – Who is involved, and how many people will participate?
  •     Implementation Needs – What resources, space, or technical support do you require?
  •     Expected Impact – How does your project engage the audience and create change?

 

 Deadline & Submission

  • Deadline for applications: June 30th, 2025
