POINT 7.0 Conference: Political Accountability and New Technologies
The conference was co-organized by “Zašto Ne” from Bosnia and Herzegovina, CRTA (Center for Research, Transparency and Accountability) from Serbia, the Metamorphosis Foundation from Macedonia and the Center for Democratic Transition in Montenegro. These organizations make up the ACTION SEE network, which is funded by the EU.
With support of the National Endowment for Democracy, the Balkan Trust for Democracy, GONG, the Friedric-Ebert-Stiftung, the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung and the TransparenCEE network, the POINT 7.0 Conference consisted of lectures, panels, multimedia presentations on topics such as political accountability and technology, citizen participation, fake news, online security and privacy among others.
The focus of POINT lies on the areas of political accountability and technology both in the region of Southeast Europe as well as the rest of the world. Experts from the world of media and information technology discussed issues such as fact checking and media literacy, investigative journalism, technology in advocacy exercises, smart cities, the post-truth age and government transparency.
The POINT Conference is one among the few events in the region of Southeast Europe that offers organizations and individuals an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge regarding new technologies and democracy in the age of digitization.
