International Parliamentarian Conference Cavtat

From October 15th and 16th, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung regional offices Dialogue Southeast Europe and office for Croatia and Slovenia hosted the International Parliamentarian Conference in Cavtat. The topic of this year's conference was "A European Union in Transition - Prospects for European Integration and Transition to a green Future in Southeast Europe."

The event gathered progressive parliamentarians from the European Union, the EU Member States, and Southeastern Europe, as well as representatives from different projects within the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. Participants of the event had the opportunity to exchange through several interactive discussion formats on various topics related to mitigating effects of climate change and energy transition in the EU and the region.

Unlike the previous conferences, this year's edition opened the floor to less formal moderation. It encouraged candid and equal opportunity to voice different perspectives, which proved to be a success among all participants. All discussions that were held during the conference oblige to Chatham House Rules.

The exchange and networking aspects of the Cavtat Conference are once again proving to be vital for the work of progressive politicians in the region, which is why it is no surprise that this conference has one of the longest traditions among the different activities that the FES hosts in the region. The FES offices are looking forward to continuing the Cavtat Conference, which has been running over 20 years, and are actively preparing the 2022 edition.
