Ohrid Dialogue 2019
The Ohrid Dialogue serves to advance progressive, forward-looking solutions to the region's persisting challenges and to foster commitment among leaders in the region to reform their societies. The first rendering of the Dialogues focused on consolidating the successes of North Macedonia, advancing domestic reforms and its Euro-Atlantic integration, leveraging these successes to inspire change and create momentum across the region.
The event gathered a significant number of participants representing governments, non-governmental organizations and experts in various fields. The sessions were chaired by former NATO Secretary General, Lord George Robertson, and by the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung was represented by the Director of FES Albania, Ms Stine Klapper, who engaged as panellist in a strategy discussion on the EU perspective of North Macedonia. The participants agred that despite the recent discouraging developments, the country should stay dedicated to the integration process and reforms.
The series aims to create a venue and continuous collaboration among the next generation of Balkan leaders and reformers in order to build trust and capacity, drive forward regional cooperation, and stregthen relationships with catalytic international partners.
