The program will gather young people from the Western Balkans to attend the Sarajevo Film Festival and tell the story of intercultural dialogue, youth cooperation, diversity and peace building.
The Sarajevo Film Festival and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Dialog of Southeast Europe, in cooperation with the Civil Peace Service Forum - the ZFD forum and the USAID PRO-Future project, are partnering again for a new edition of "In Youth Eyes: Western Balkans Youth Team." The program gathers young people from the Western Balkans to attend the Sarajevo Film Festival and its program "Dealing with the Past" and tell the story of intercultural dialogue, youth cooperation, diversity, and peacebuilding.
The Sarajevo Film Festival provides an opportunity for young people from the Western Balkans to visit Sarajevo, meet their peers, discover, watch, and learn about our communities and others through films, discussions, and the atmosphere of Sarajevo during the festival days. The “In Youth Eyes: Western Balkans Youth Team” participants will also have the unique opportunity to join informative panel discussions with filmmakers of the movies they will be seeing during the program. They will have the opportunity to create content for social networks to present their experience and perception of history, narrative, youth activism, Sarajevo, the Film Festival, dialogue, and networking.
The joint project is a synergy of valuable and renowned partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, which aims to create opportunities for young people from the Western Balkans to be mobile, creative, and involved, bearing in mind that they are drivers for a better region and an intercultural community.
The program will host 25 young participants to form the Western Balkans Youth Team, with the following criteria:
• Residents of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia;
• Ages 18 to 25;
• Motivated to participate in the whole project and contribute to the teamwork, and to write stories for the “Dealing with the Past" page and create content for social media platforms;
• Inspired to participate by the agreed program of the Sarajevo Film Festival and to write an article about their experience after returning to their local communities;
• They can attend the "Dealing with the Past" program from August 17 to 22, 2024;
• They have not traveled before or had fewer opportunities to travel outside their cities;
• Are willing to participate in a special episode of "Perspective" (Perspektiva).
The organizer will cover the participants' travel and accommodation costs. Interested candidates should apply by July 1, 2024. The 30th Sarajevo Film Festival will be held from August 16 to 23, 2024. You can apply HERE.
