Human Rights Award 2020 Berlin

On 16th November, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung hosted the Human Rights Award 2020 ceremony in Berlin. This year's award was given to the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Mr. Zoran Zaev, for his personal commitment to the conclusion of the Prespa Agreement and his efforts towards a European future and a free and open society.

Call for Applicants: The Regional Academy of Public Policies, Education and Sustainable Employment

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Regional Dialogue Southeast Europe and Belgrade Office are opening a competition for the selection of participants in the first online Regional Academy of Public Policies - Education and Sustainable Employment. The Academy is an advanced programme of political education designed for decision-makers in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Croatia, Albania and Kosovo.



5th of October: 20 years after the fall of Milosevic

On 5th of October, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Dialogue Southeast Europe and the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory organized two-panel discussions in Belgrade, marking the 20th anniversary of citizens' protests that led to the fall of Slobodan Milosevic in 2001. The event gathered politicians, NGO representatives, civil society organizations and active participants in 2001. protest to speak about the legacy and the consequences of this day, that many described as the day in which democracy in Serbia won. The two panels were followed by another discussion organized by the FES Belgrade on current circumstances of political discourse in Serbia.



Grassroots Action for Green Change: Mostar

From 1st to 4th of October, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Dialogue Southeast Europe managed to organize another in-person event, in Mostar. The „Grassroots Action for Green Change“ event brought together activists and civil society representatives from the region, who have been part of the FES SOE activist network.



Western Balkans Perspectives on the Future of Europe: Skopje

On 22nd of September, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Dialogue Southeast Europe hosted the first in person focus groups and a fishbowl discussion in“Western Balkans Perspectives on the Future of Europe“ series. After many months of virtual gatherings, this event was set up in Skopje, with the help of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in North Macedonia and our partners from the Austro-French Centre for Rapprochement in Europe.

From 7th to 11th of September, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Regional Dialogue Southeast Europe and the Institute for Democratic Engagement Southeast Europe (IDESE) continued the Think Engaged: Academia in Dialogue series.

The Role of Civil Society and Youth in the EU Integration Process: Online Sessions

From June 22 to July 6, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung organized a web-seminar series titled "The Role of Civil Society and Youth in the EU Integration Process". Hosted by FES’ EU Office in Brussels and office in Tirana, the sessions brought together representatives from national youth organizations from each of the Western Balkans countries. The participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences among themselves and engage in constructive debates with EU stakeholders.
